Psalm 18:20-23 (KJV) 20 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
22 For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.
23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

GOD'S ACKNOLEDGMENT THAT DAVID WAS A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART IS SOMETIMES A BIT OVERWHELMING.

WE ALL KNOW THAT DAVID WAS NOT PERFECT AND WE HAVE THE ACCOUNT OF DAVID AND BATHSHEBA, THEIR SIN AND DAVID'S SIN OF HAVING HER HUSBAND PUT IN THE HEAT OF BATTLE SO HE WOULD BE KILLED.

BUT I BELIEVE DAVID ALSO WAS JUST AS PRONE TO SIN AS YOU AND I. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT HE SUFFERED WITH DEPRESSION AND I'M NOT SO SURE BUT THAT THE SOURCE OF HIS DEPRESSION WAS HIS SIN AND INIQUITY THAT HE STRUGGLED WITH OFTEN.

I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS GOOD OR BAD BUT SOMETIMES I WOULD LIKE TO NOT NEED GOD'S GRACE ANYMORE.

THE COMMAND OF JESUS IS

Matthew 5:48 (KJV) 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
THIS IS THE END DESIRE OF GOD FOR US. WHILE WE STRUGGLE AND WORK TOWARD HOLINESS IN THIS LIFE WE CAN BE ENCOURAGED BY

.

Matthew 19:26 (KJV) 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

WE ARE SAVED BY HIS GRACE AND WE ARE KEPT BY HIS GRACE, BUT SOMETIMES I WOULD JUST LIKE TO LIVE FOR HIM WITHOUT ALL THE DISTRACTION, TEMPTATIONS, MY ANGER AND DEALING WITH WHAT I WANT WHEN WHAT I WANT IS NOT WHAT GOD WANTS FOR ME.

I THINK THAT AND I AM JUST KIDDING BUT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN 1 WORD ADDED TO VERSE 23.

TODAY

WE ARE GOING TO LOOK THROUGH SOME OF THE PSALMS WHERE DAVID CONFESSES HIS SIN AND INIQUITY AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF HIS SIN.

THE POINT IS THAT WE WILL FAIL OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, BUT WE MUST KEEP TRUSTING IN HIS GRACE AND MERCY. REPENT AND START OVER AS MANY TIMES AS IT TAKES UNTIL WE TAKE OUR LAST BREATH AND GOD TAKES US HOME AND GIVES US A NEW NATURE.

SATAN AND OUR ENEMIES WANT US TO FAIL AND SETS TRAPS FOR US. SOMETIMES PEOPLE BECAUSE OF OUR WITNESS OR TESTIMONY ARE WILLING TO TEMP US TO SIN AND WILL THEN REJOICE IF WE FAIL OR YIELD TO THAT TEMPTATION.

Psalm 31:1-24 (KJV) 1

In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.
2 Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.
3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
4 Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.
5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
6 I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.
7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;
8 And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.
9 Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.
10 For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.
11 I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.
12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
13 For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
14 But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.
15 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
16 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake.
17 Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
18 Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
21 Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.
22 For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
23 O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

THE HAPPY STATE OF HIM THAT IS FORGIVEN. GOD IS ALWAYS READY FOR FORGIVE AND WASH US CLEAN AGAIN TO START OVER.

Psalm 32:1-11 (KJV) 1

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.
4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.
7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.
11 Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

DAVID RECORDS HIS ILLNESS AND DISEASE BECAUSE OF HIS SIN AND INIQUITY.

BECAUSE OF HIS OWN SIN HIS HEART IS GRIEVED.

Psalm 38:1-18 (KJV) 1

O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
2 For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.
3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
5 My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.
6 I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.
7 For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.

17 For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.
18 For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

AFTER NATHAN THE PROPHET CONFRONTED DAVID BECAUSE OF BATHSHEBA AND URIAH THIS IS DAVID'S PRAYER TO GO

D

Psalm 51:1-13 (KJV) 1

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

Lord Jesus, I long to be perfectly whole;
I want Thee forever to live in my soul;
Break down every idol, cast out every foe
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Refrain:
Whiter than snow, yes, whiter than snow,
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Lord Jesus, let nothing unholy remain,
Apply Thine own blood and extract every stain;
To get this blest cleansing, I all things forego
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Lord Jesus, look down from Thy throne in the skies,
And help me to make a complete sacrifice;
I give up myself, and whatever I know
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Lord Jesus, for this I most humbly entreat,
I wait, blessed Lord, at Thy crucified feet,
By faith for my cleansing, I see thy blood flow
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Lord Jesus, Thou seest I patiently wait;
Come now and within me a new heart create;
To those who have sought Thee Thou never saidst No
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
The blessing by faith, I receive from above;
Oh, glory! my soul is made perfect in love;
My prayer has prevailed, and this moment I know,
The blood is applied, I am whiter than snow.
